In 2017, I was asked to document the restoration of a truly unique vehicle: JUE 477 – the first ever production Land-Rover and chassis number one.

Over the following two years, I researched the history of the vehicle – a challenging task, whilst following the herculean efforts of restorer, Julian Shoolheifer, photographing as much of the project as was physically possible in order to provide a truly honest account of the resurrection.

In early 2020, we returned the completed vehicle to the north east of England where it had spent most of its life – a journey which allowed us to complete the photography for this amazing project.

​

As author, researcher, photographer and designer on this project, it was an honour to have been involved and in September 2020, both vehicle and book were revealed. Shortlisted for RAC Motoring Book of the Year 2021 and Publication of the Year, RAC Motoring Awards 2021. Awarded Best Publication, National Land Rover Awards 2021.
